doomsday
"Minutes to Midnight" redirects here, along with other titles incorporating that term. For other uses, see Minutes to Midnight (disambiguation). For the Smashing Pumpkins song, see Doomsday Clock (song).
The Doomsday Clock is a symbolic clock face, maintained since 1947 by the board of directors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago, that uses the analogy of the human race being at a time that is "minutes to midnight", wherein midnight represents "catastrophic destruction". Originally, the analogy represented the threat of global nuclear war, but since includes climate-changing technologies and "new developments in the life sciences and nanotechnology that could inflict irrevocable harm".
Since its inception, the clock has appeared on every cover of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Its first representation was in 1947, when magazine co-founder Hyman Goldsmith asked artist Martyl Langsdorf (wife of Manhattan Project physicist Alexander Langsdorf, Jr.) to design a cover for the magazine's June 1947 issue.
The number of minutes before midnight – measuring the degree of nuclear, environmental, and technological threats to mankind – is periodically corrected; currently, the clock reads five minutes to midnight, having advanced two minutes on 17 January 2007.

Doris Salcedo'd work recreation by lulu
I went to see Doris Salcedo (Colombian artist) work @ tate modern @ London, but her work was already "removed" but the crack will stay longer....So this picture is my own version (a recreation) of her work based on the scar left at the gallery floor.
"It represents borders, the experience of immigrants, the experience of segregation, the experience of racial hatred. It is the experience of a Third World person coming into the heart of Europe." Doris Salcedo
"There is a crack, there is a line, and eventually there will be a scar and that scar will remain," Tate director Nicholas Serota said. "It will remain as a memory of the work and also as a memorial to the issues Doris touches on."

Spotlight: Held Hostage in Colombia (2008)
Today I am happier because Ingrid, 3 North Americans (those in the video) and 11 other Colombian soldiers were rescued.
Nor too happy to realise that my country is been held hostage not only by guerrilla, but by its own government.

lulugaia says:
@c.valencia79 gracias.

Salu2

Bandeja casi paisa @ Madrid
alui0000 Pro User says:
mama mia, that looks soooo good!
lulugaia Pro User says:
@ Alui....well the "real" one u can get it only in Colombia mainly in a region called "Antioquia" well known cause Pablo Escobar was from there....the people from that region are called "paisas" like to say glasweian from Glasgow...as an example....so paisas make this dish as a typical dish that it is why is called "bandeja paisa"......bandeja means "big" dish....this one I had it in Madrid,,,so actually in the notes I've being a bit critical cause of course in Spain u cannot get every single ingredient as u can get in Colombia.....;P....but even thou it was gooooodddd!!

Andres Lopez Doing the Bag Pipes with Carlos
Walking by the streets of Madrid, it is very easy to see myriads of Colombians. But, what are the chances of meeting someone you admire? Well, I bumped into Andres Lopez and had the chance of talking to him; This reminded me about some casual encounters I had with Jaime Garzon years ago in Colombia, when I never knew if while talking, he was jocking or not.

Information R/evolution
This video explores the changes in the way we find, store, create, critique, and share information. This video was created as a conversation starter, and works especially well when brainstorming with people about the near future and the skills needed in order to harness, evaluate, and create information effectively.

Optical Camouflage (Invisible Cloak)
One of the labs in the University of Tokyo uploaded some interesting videos several years ago.
This technology involves neither chroma-keying nor photoshopping but is "quasi-invisibility" using a specific fabric and projector.
